obscenity, February 2024
site-specific installation
found images, custom software, 1990's PC, CRT monitor, mouse, keyboard, and webcam, custom mouse mat, salvaged plywood, bubble wrap, steel trestles, cheap swivel chair, carpet tiles, security ID, lanyard, hi-viz vest, mechanical alarm clock, vintage lamp, dirty mug, coffee, mould, anti-depressants

With quite a lot of nudging and debugging I managed to coax a piece of software out of ChatGPT. Grinding slowly on outdated hardware, the app asks the viewer to classify without context or purpose several hundred randomized images of stealth wealth, obscene luxury, civil disobedience and scenes of societal entropy, all rendered in a blurry, arbitrarily cropped monochrome. The surrounding environment is that of a grimy office cubicle constructed hamfistedly out of salvaged materials.
